The left picture as example. 2 stairs going down to dive platform. Both outer bottom platforms are connected to each other by a metal / alu grid, which is strong and long enough to hold several divers. The grid is below water level and is raised or when ship is under way.
Obviously this platform serves as the ship's entry and exit point. (Rollover for example)
